Course Information

The purpose of this qualification is to allow Junior Farm Managers to progress towards a Farm Manager position with specific reference to Animal Production.

Admittance Requirements:

  • For level 3 or more the candidate needs a grade 12 qualification and qualified in one level lower than the application.
  • Alternately he has to present proof of experience in agriculture as a worker or assistant to a farmer.
  • Numeracy, literacy and communication equivalent to NQF 4 and technical skills pertaining agricultural activities equivalent to NQF 4.

Time Frame:

  • All the diploma courses run for 2 years.
  • Learners work individually at their own speed and time.
  • The facilitator will schedule goals with the learner; this will help to avoid procrastinating and non-completing the course.

Mentoring is scheduled per learner request to assist with any queries.

Conditions:

  • The learner must have access to facilities on a farm where s/he can do practical and have supervision in the workplace.
  • If all the facilities are not available for the related subjects s/he will need to make arrangements at other places.
  • The learner will need access to a computer.
  • All material will be supplied electronically s/he then submits the workbooks electronically or s/he can print it and hand in hard copy.

Price includes:

  • VAT.
  • All manuals.
  • Facilitator will visit the site at least once in the year (depending on location).
    a. The learner will visit the office at least three times in this period.
    b. This will be for his/her summative assessment.
    c. E-mail/assistance will be arranged and he/she can ask for help when it suits him.
  • Registration with the AgriSETA.
  • Assessment and Moderation (There are no examination fees).
  • Certification with the AgriSETA on completion.

This does not include:

  • Travel, refreshments and accommodation for the learner.
  • Equipment and facilities for practical.
  • Payment of training venue.
  • Arrangement and availability of practical area/farm.
  • Learner grants/stipements.
